Neil Nitin Mukesh: There are no compromises for stardom

2013 started well for Neil Nitin Mukesh when he got some good critical acclaim coming his way for DAVID. Though the film didn't do well at the box office, Neil was noticed for his gangster act. His follow up flick 3G was a mishap though as it failed to take off despite good songs and an earnest act again from the actor. Now that he is returning to the big screen again with SHORTCUT ROMEO, the film promises to get him into the 'masala' zone. Moreover the fact that the film is a remake of a South film means that there are chances of him turning third time lucky.
"Well, I keep it simple by not thinking too much," Neil shares his philosophy, "See, whether it is a top star or someone like me who is pretty much starting his career, I have realised and understood that struggle is a constant friend of an actor. You have to keep working hard and there are no compromises for stardom. Log kehte hain ki luck hota hai' main kehta hoon ki luck is like an icing on the cake. However the cake as a whole is basically hard work."
This could well be the story of his career as well. Though he has been acknowledged as an actor who can deliver, it is some of his films that have failed him, hence preventing his march to the top. How is he continuing to keep his head high?
Says Neil, "My core principle is that kaam karte jaayo aur phal ki ichcha mat karo. Jab mauka hoga, time sahi hoga, toh sab theek hoga. I am just doing my work. I keep telling myself that two more films and the struggle would be over for me. Till then you can keep bashing me; it's okay. For me, my career is like a boxing and I am like Rocky Balboa. I am waiting to strike. Till then I will make sure that my opponent gets tired and then I land him with a punch that knocks him down."
