Confidence is like yeast which on getting the suitable surroundings bakes the dough in a really nice manner. Ranbir Kapoor is right now going through that phase after the phenomenal success of YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI the world over. He has indeed emerged as the star who is going to take the triumvirate of the Khans head on to tell the world that indeed the top slot of the world of Hindi cinema also has to factor his presence in a determined way as well.
RANBIR KAPOOR and AAMIR KHAN
Buoyed by the success of YJHD Ranbir Kapoor has decided to take on Aamir Khan at the box office in December, a slot which hitherto had been the slot over which Aamir had personal suzerainty. Aamir Khan's DHOOM 3 would be released on Christmas eve and Ranbir Kapoor has decided that his BOMBAY VELVET would also release on the same date.
BOMBAY VELVET has a sense of contemporaneous associated with the occasion of Christmas, around the plan when the film is being planned for release, as it is a sort of docu-drama of the manner in which Jazz has evolved in Mumbai. Christmas is the time when Jazz is in full bloom and with festive around the world and fans of Jazz would for sure lap BOMBAY VELVET up, as Ranbir Kapoor has shown it with the greatest demonstrative effect that he can groove to Jazz without dropping an eyelid as he did in the song Badtameez Dil from YJHD which is a classical case of Jazz song shown in full display on the silver screen. In the recent memory it is one of the songs which is just set to tune with crest and troughs of Jazz to great effect manifest from the fact that in all the marriages that are happening the couples and all others are grooving to this song with gay abandon.
For Aamir it would be an interesting proposition that is panning out as for quite a long time when his films have been released no other big film is released. It would also be an acid test for Yash Raj Films as they would have to devise a strategy to counter assault on their vertical DHOOM whose third version they are planning for a December show. For fans of cinema it would be a visual treat worth waiting for.
