If Pulkit Samrat was a picture of calm and compose right through the weekend gone by (even as his FUKREY played in theatres), he has Salman Khan to thank. That is because if not for the advice made by the superstar more than a year back, he could well have been a bundle of nerves.
PULKIT SAMRAT and SALMAN KHAN
''This was during the days of BITTOO BOSS itself. Salman bhai told me not to think about whether a film of mine would be a hit or a flop. He asked me to work well and let the innocence in me remain. He said that as long as I did that, there won't be any fear. This changed my outlook towards results. See, I have done quite a lot of TV and theatre before so I know how the feeling of being nervous is. However, I have changed that for films ever since 'bhai' gave me this advice. Even for FUKREY, I wasn't twiddling my thumbs in fear; I was at peace,'' says Pulkit.
Now that the Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani produced film has found some good critical acclaim coming it's way and has also seen some good elevation in collections during the weekend, Pulkit is happy to be allowing his 'innocence' to remain intact.
''This is where the entire honesty in effort comes into play,'' he says, ''As suggested by Salman bhai, I haven't allowed myself to get corrupted and that shows in my performance. Thankfully viewers have noticed that as well and this is the kind of feedback that is coming my way. I am always going to follow one core 'mantra' in each of my films - It is appreciation which matters much more than commercial success.''
We would love to hear the same Pulkit in years to come as well.
