Neil Nitin Mukesh was seen in a 'masala' role for the first time ever in SHORTCUT ROMEO. While he did enjoy singing, dancing and indulging in some cool action for the dramatic thriller (and did quite well too), the results have been far from satisfactory as far as commercial success is concerned. Though he has managed to leave behind the dark roles that he has played in abundance, the film has suffered due to an ill-planned release.
However, the silver lining has been some all-around appreciation that he has managed to earn for himself. Moreover, with an act that has managed to surpass his JOHNNY GADDAAR effort, Neil has made an announcement all over again that all he is in look out for are the makers who make and release his films well.
One wonders what's going on in his mind currently.
''That chahe main star banoon ya nahi banoon, izzat milni chahiye (More than being hailed as a star, I yearn for respect),'' he smiles, ''I have always believed in this virtue. If people praise then I say thank you and if don't then I don't ask PRs to start feeding stuff about me. Thankfully, people have been kind to me. Whether it is 7 KHOON MAAF, DAVID or SHORTCUT ROMEO, the accolades have been very high.''
He continues to keep his chin up and adds, ''I was here to be an actor, I am doing that and this is what I want to do in future as well.''
