She is a multi-faceted personality deeply involved in charity work, and social causes. She is an intellectually aware beauty queen, and has a graduate degree as well, apart from being a trained actress. It is rare to find all these qualities in an Indian cinema actress some of whom either get better known for their affairs with their co-stars, or their dare bare acts.

Rekha Rana has all these qualities and she is the heroine of TARA -THE JOURNEY OF LOVE & PASSION, a critically acclaimed film produced and directed by Kumar Raj. She has already been winning appreciation and awards for her sensitive portrayal of a banjaran girl in the film that is all set to be released commercially on 12th July 2013 after a very successful film festival run.

She considers education, awareness, the capacity to stay calm in adverse circumstances, not being selfish, and her belief in hard work and God among her core strengths. She is a trained actress and has gurus like Barry John and Dinesh Thakur. She says, ''While the basics of acting was imparted to me by Barry John, I honed and enhanced my acting skills under the guidance of Dinesh Thakur and his Ank Theatre Group.

TARA -THE JOURNEY OF LOVE & PASSION is her second film. Here debut DHARNA UNLIMITED, with Omkar Das Manikpuri (PEEPLI LIVE fame), was released last year. The transition to cinema from theatre can be quite difficult for some actors. This is not the case with her. She thinks that the transition from theatre to cinema is easy and the reverse probably can be difficult. ''I have an upper hand in the profession because of my theatre background,'' she asserts confidently.

She has won a number of awards. She got her first BEST ACTRESS AWARD in Rangs Singapore Film Festival 3 years ago for a short film. It's her work in TARA -THE JOURNEY OF LOVE & PASSION that has brought her greater acclaim and glory. She has already won the best debut actress award in Nasik International Film Festival and Jaipur International Film Festival.

She thinks that in the filmmaking process producer is as important as the director. 'They are the two sides of the same coin and one cannot exist without the other.'

Though Delhi is her home 'Mumbai makes her feel warm and comfortable...and absolutely at home'. She does not feel lonely or lost in the big bad city since her family spends a lot of time with her. Her belief in God and herself keeps her in the company of good people. She is also known as Princess, Angel, and Cleopatra by her friends, fans, and the people who love her and discover in her facets similar to the three.

TARA THE JOURNEY OF LOVE AND PASSION promotions are going on in full swing. Her posters are seen in all multiplexes. How does it feel to be seen around and being recognized like that? She says, ''I feel great but I cannot describe it precisely. It is more like a mixed feeling of pride, happiness, excitement, and of being blessed. Tara is a story of love, passion and justice. It is a film about about women empowerment a story of a woman who has to choose between easy life or pride and dignity. Rekha expects and prays for the film to have a good release all over India so that more and more people can watch her and appreciate her performance. She does not want to talk about her future projects until they take off.
