It has been a rather disappointing week at the box-office with both, Ram Gopal Varma's THE ATTACKS OF 26/11 and John, Chitrangda and Prachi starrer, I, ME AUR MAIN, failing to entice the audience.
THE ATTACKS OF 26/1, I, Me AUR MAIN AND KAI PO CHE!
What is surprising is that THE ATTACKS OF 26/11, which was expected to be the comeback venture of the once maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, has found no takers at the multiplexes, though the single screens are better, still, the 20-25 percent (on an all India basis) start is a shocker. The best collections (obviously) came from Mumbai-Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat.
The other release of the week, I, ME AUR MAIN, has witnessed the opposite scenario as the single screens have totally rejected the film while some of the high end multiplexes have seen better collections in the metros. Once again a below 20 percent all India start is a big downer!
Of the two new releases THE ATTACKS OF 26/11 has better chances of recovery as compared to the John Abraham venture I, ME AUR MAIN, if that is a consolation for RGV!
And before we leave, no prizes for guessing (we had already told you so!) that it is UTV Motion Pictures' Abhishek Kapoor directed, KAI PO CHE! which is the preferred choice of the audience, even in the second weekend, after an impressive 27crore (to be validated) during the opening week from India!
