How Aanand L Rai won over other directors for RAANJHNAA

The countdown has begun for RAANJHNAA. In around a fortnight from now, the film's First Look would be out and expectations are already soaring since the man at the helm of affairs is Aanand L Rai. Arriving more than two years after his much acclaimed and box office success TANU WEDS MANU, RAANJHNAA is also bringing together Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush. However there is an interesting story behind what led to the film turning out to be the chosen one by its producers.
''Krishika Lulla, who is producing RAANJHNAA, wanted to be very sure about her next project after making CHALO DILLI. While there was no dearth of filmmakers who wanted to be associated with her production house, courtesy the standing that Eros enjoys, she short-listed three filmmakers before taking a final call,'' informs a source.
Krishika was sure that more than just the subject in hand, she also wanted to assess the person who would be at the helm of affairs. One of the three directors she met was Aanand.
The source continues, "As she started interacting further with them, she felt that there was something lacking in the other two directors. However Aanand fitted the bill for the kind of content and the attitude she was looking for. It was a go ahead for them and this is how the association kick-started."
Adds Krishika, "Yes, I could see that there was something wrong with the films that others brought to me. In fact these films have been released as well and it won't be fair on my part to comment on them or the people behind them. However I can talk about Aanand. I had heard in the past that he is someone who is really passionate about his work. Well, I have been experiencing it first hand for a year now. I am very happy that he was the chosen one."
We hope that the results lead to a happy situation as well when the film releases all over on 28th June.
