Ever since the announcement day, Kumar Mangat Pathak's Suparn Verma directed, AATMA, has been in the headlines for two major reasons.

Firstly, due to the assertions by the director and the National Award winning lead actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, that the film is not the usual macabre horror that one is used to in Bollywood.

The second reason is the unusual casting of the lead stars, oomph girl Bipasha Basu, and actor par excellence Nawazuddin Siddqui, known mostly for his outstanding and award winning roles in acclaimed hit films KAHAANI, TALAASH - THE ANSWER LIES WITHIN and GANGS OF WASSEYPUR.

In fact during our one-to-one talk with Nawaz he had told us, ''Actually it was the emotional angle (rather than horror!), especially the touching father-daughter relationship that made me say 'yes' to the project immediately. Since I am also the father of a girl child (in real life!), I could easily relate to the story and my character in AATMA.''

CHECK OUT: Nawazuddin Siddiqui - Bipasha Basu is a wonderful actress and person!

When we queried the director of the film, Suparn Verma, about the fact that the Hindi cinema audience has a certain mindset about how the horror films should be made, he asserted, ''As I have told you from the first day, AATMA is not a film about bad and scary faces and blood being splattered across the screen. Yes, there may be chilling moments, but it's actually an emotional psychological thriller about a family consisting of a mother, father and daughter.''

Please go on.. and Suparn added, ''Why I use the word family is because (in AATMA) Nawazuddin may be a bad (read abusive!) husband, but he is a great, dedicated and loving father. The sole reason why Nawazuddin comes back is due to his immense love and obsession for his darling daughter (Doyel Dhawan). You will be in total agreement with me once you check out AATMA.''

For sure AATMA is on the watch list of most cine-goers, including us, and given the buzz and hype, we are certain that it will open to a good response this Friday!
