It's been a special year for actor par excellence, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Not only did he win the highly prestigious National Award (jury), for his superb performances but his solo hero psychological thriller, Suparn Verma's AATMA (in which he essayed a brilliant negative character), too was a critical and commercial success!
This Friday sees the release of his next, BOMBAY TALKIES, where Nawazuddin essays the lead role in the Dibaker Banerjee directed episode, based on late Satyajit Ray's short story - PATOL BABU, FILM STAR.
Those lucky few, especially the critics, who have seen the film, have been wowed (as always!) by Nawazuddin's performance, and are going bonkers over his superb portrayal of a struggling actor.
When we spoke to Nawaz and queried him as to how he goes about preparing for his role, he revealed, ''I believe in a lot of interaction with the director as well as the writer. I try to get as much input as I can from the director, so that I can visualize and put their vision into practice. I ask a lot of questions, not only regarding my character but also about that of the other cast members as well, especially those who are in the same frame as me! In fact, that is what my stint at the National School Of Drama (NSD) has taught me.''
With Nawazuddin Siddiqui's latest release, BOMBAY TALKIES, already creating waves internationally (read Cannes), we are sure that the film will appeal in a big way to the Indian audience as well.
