BOMBAY TALKIES and SHOOTOUT AT WADALA
Last week's two major releases were Sanjay Gupta's SHOOTOUT AT WADALA and Viacom 18's BOMBAY TALKIES. Expectedly, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA appealed to the masses and managed to score, especially at the single screens in Mumbai-Maharashtra, CP Berar and Hyderabad-Nizam. The multiplexes were not on the same level. The film did manage a healthy weekend netting 25-26 crore (to be validated). Given the high costs the film will have sustain till the next week as well, to be a plus fare. The other release, BOMBAY TALKIES, with a rock bottom budget of 6 crore and despite a limited release netted 5 crore plus during the opening weekend. Being a film more for prestige and aimed at the International festival circuits, BOMBAY TALKIES is likely to be a critical and commercial success, after the overseas release.
SHOOTOUT AT WADALA has done decently in the overseas grossing £85,000 from UK and $208,000 from the US during the opening weekend (3-5 May).
