Exactly a year and one week after the release of ISHAQZAADE, Arjun Kapoor is returning with AURANGZEB. This time around, he has been granted an opportunity of a double role no less. From being an uncouth small town boy to playing an urban youngster, it has been a phase of transition for Arjun.
''I found it exciting that a production house like Yash Raj, which has been known to invest in certain kind of films, wanted to make something like AURANGZEB which is so rooted,'' says Arjun, ''Also, the very fact that a double role here was different from what many other films boast of. Like there was a ROWDY RATHORE, which was out and out massy and fun in its own way. On the other hand the double role characters here are very different. The very cop v/s underworld factor is very real.''
In this quest to go real, it appears to be a conscious move on part of Arjun to stay away from conventional milieu of Mumbai. After a small town in Uttar Pradesh ISHAQZAADE, we have now moved to Gurgaon for AURANGZEB.
''Well, Gurgaon works in a very different context here as it sets the whole tone of the film'', reasons Arjun, ''The film is a family drama, it is about their business which is into underworld. Action is an inherent part of the affairs but at the end of the day it is a human drama. This is where Gurgaon further adds value as you do hear stories around land mafia and land gabbing. While Delhi or a Mumbai have their own stories to tell, Gurgaon is a different world in itself.''
