An Open Letter To Vivek Oberoi
November 6, 2013 11:12:41 AM IST By Martin D'Souza, Glamsham Editorial
Dear Vivek Oberoi
Your Kaal is past; you now have a bright future in store.
Congratulations once again on a frightening display of sheer evil in KRRISH 3. Everything for you was just perfect, even the timing, just when your career was nose-diving. This is a God-sent opportunity for you to reinvent and re-strategize your moves. You have also proved to your detractors that the spark you showed in your debut film in COMPANY is still burning; it was no KLPD!
Your career was on an upswing when you decided to rub the right people the wrong way. You got blacklisted, your confidence took a beating and you generally went the way any youngster with talent and no direction would go.
But marriage is a great stabilizing factor and a child even more satisfying. It changes one's perspective in life and enables us to think differently, rather than selfishly. I guess, your wife Priyanka, and son Vivaan surely have cushioned you from the outside world and all negative influences that would have bogged you down earlier.
But the biggest factor would have been your decision to be wheel-chair bound for a major part of the movie. It takes courage to sign on for a role like this. But then you had nothing to lose and everything to gain. You also had the director of the caliber of Rakesh Roshan guiding you through and his son Hrithik Roshan playing the super hero to lift the film on his shoulders, literally!
If the make-up and lighting added to your menace, you also did exceedingly well with your body language, expressions and the way you delivered your dialogues. It all added up to the sum total of the chaos Rakesh Roshan was trying to create.
What you have also done with this film is prove that you are like your dad, more a character artiste. Which is not bad; it is characters like these that add valued to any film, big or small, because they define the momentum the film will take if the script is tight.
KRRISH 3 has lifted your performance several notches higher. It has also boosted your market value. What you now need to do is get grounded and work on every project as though it is your last; giving it your all.
No numerologist will tell you this; you have a bright future in store. I can say this with confidence because God has put in your heart a desire to excel and His word says in Psalm 37:4 ''I will give you the desires of your heart.''
God Bless You Martin D'Souza
