From being a 'Paro' of DEV D to an item girl in BULLETT RAJA, it has been quite some journey for Mahie Gill. Though she has enjoyed the tag of being an 'actress' ever since she made her impressive Bollywood debut in the Anurag Kashyap affair, Mahie is now playful about gyrating to a true-blue item number for Tigmanshu Dhulia. .

'Well, I am, because as I have always maintained, Anurag ne mujhe janam diya hai aur Tigmanshu ne mujhe paala hai', says Mahie who has featured in Anurag's DEV D and GULAAL while being a regular with Tigmanshu, courtesy SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER, SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS and PAAN SINGH TOMAR.
This is the reason why she was game for it when Tigmanshu offered her a chance to go through a complete image change and step in as for this special song-n-dance track.
'You know, what happens is that when people come to you with offers that you can do only so and so kind of work, you want to show the kind of range you are carrying,' says Mahie who was last seen as Mona Darling in ZANJEER, 'As for my song in BULLETT RAJA, I am not saying that I am a great dancer but then you have to see me at the parties; I dance like mad there.'
This isn't her first stint with an item number though. Three years back she had also experimented with an item number titled 'Mirch' in the namesake film (directed by Vinay Shukla) which sunk without a trace, courtesy zero promotion.
''Don't Touch My Body' is a full on latka-jhatka number now. I really had a great time being choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. He and Tigmanshu tell me that I was their first choice. I guess I am lucky. There are some heavy duty dance steps that I enjoyed with Saif (Ali Khan) and Jimmy (Sheirgill),' says Mahie who was considerably sombre in her very first dance number 'Ranaji' in GULAAL.
Meanwhile she has gone slow in signing Hindi films and is concentrating entirely on Satish Kaushik's GANG OF GHOSTS which is aiming for release in early 2014.
'Yes, I have indeed gone slow as I need to work only in a film which has a good script. I can't go on signing films just for the sake of it,' smiles Mahie before signing off.
