Farhan Akhtar doesn't have 'Direction Ke Side Effects'

Promo of SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS, sequel to PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, is out and the response so far has been universally positive. With the film's First Look doing the trick and the interaction between Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan - who are playing a much married couple - totally identifiable, there are two things clear.
One, director Saket Chowdhary has made the seven year wait between his two films count. Two, Farhan Akhtar hasn't allowed his directorial style to take over the proceedings.
What further helped Saket was the kind of assurance that Farhan served when he didn't interfere from creative standpoint.
"Farhan has mastered direction, writing, singing as well as acting and he is successful in there because he knows his rules well," says a mutual friend. "When he is acting, he realises that a director needs his space and in spite of being an accomplished director himself, he doesn't interfere in his director's work. This was the case with BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG where Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra followed his grammar of storytelling. Now same is the case with SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS as well where Saket got a free hand to make the film in a way he wanted to."
It wasn't as if Farhan stayed totally aloof and was on the sets just in order to 'do his job'. When asked for, he did share his suggestions. However, by and large he well understood that the film was someone else's baby and there was no way he could step over the feet of his director.
Guess, there are no 'Direction Ke Side Effects' that are hitting Farhan as yet.
