Even though more than eight years have gone by since the release of WAQT -The Race Against Time, the film stays on to be very close to Akshay Kumar's heart. Though in the years gone by he has seen quite a few successful films belonging to action and comedy genre, the drama holds a special place in his heart due to a very strong father-son angle that was on display.
While in WAQT it was Amitabh Bachchan with whom Akshay shared a very strong bond, both on as well as off screen, it is Mithun Chakraborty with whom Akshay is said to be sharing some crucial moments in BOSS.
"Mithunda plays Akshay's father in BOSS and there is a very strong unspoken bond between the two. In fact it is their relationship which forms a pivotal part in BOSS, something which has not been brought to the fore yet. Though they have worked together in the past as well, BOSS would have something truly heart-warming in the offering," informs a source.
Apparently, Mithun Chakraborty was the first and only choice for BOSS and the veteran actor was more than happy to come on board as well due to a very strong emotional connect that he saw in the written material.
"In fact the father-son emotion is what connects the film," agrees Anthony D'Souza, the film's director, "Akshay as well as Mithun really loved that part since it is inherent to the film. As a filmmaker, I was reminded of Akshay's WAQT which was so strong in its emotional context. The script worked around that beautifully and once Akshay gave it a go ahead, it was a double whammy to see Mithun immediately coming on board as well."
Now one looks forward to audience coming on board as well once BOSS releases all over on 16th October, 2013.
