SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE, DAYAVAN, KHWAHISH and BOOM
SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE, DAYAVAN, KHWAHISH and BOOM

The latest news that Bollywood's new blue-eyed boy Sushant Singh Rajput has over 27 kissing scenes in SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE with his gorgeous co-stars Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor is an old publicity stunt that has fallen flat in the past.

If readers do not believe than let us take you back to the year 2003 when Govind Menon's film KHWAHISH was painted red in media for its steamy and bold 17 smooches between the sex siren Mallika Sherawat and the hunk Himanshu Malik. The filmmakers cleverly crafted the promos with hot scenes to not only attract the viewers but also the media. Mallika Sherawat, who made her debut with the film, won profound publicity for promoting the film as a bold love story. However, when the movie was released it bit dust because the filmmaker cheated on the audience as there were only as many kissing scenes as he had shown in the promos!!!

Similarly, the same year Amitabh Bachchan starrer BOOM that released made headlines for longest kissing scene ever picturised in Hindi cinema between Jackie Shroff and Madhu Sapre. Yet again the movie failed miserably at the box-office. Though the movie boosted multiple sex sirens like Madhu Sapre, Zeenat Aman Katrina Kaif and dusky beauty Padma Lakshmi, Indian-born American cookbook author, actress, model, television host and wife of renowned novelist Salman Rushdie, yet the movie failed proving the point that a movie succeeds not just for its kissing scenes but for its good content.

Yet another movie that needs mention is Feroz Khan's DAYAVAN (Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam's super hit NAYAGAN), that had the most talked about chumma of the 80s between Vinod Khanna and Madhuri Dixit. However, DAYAVAN too was disastrous.

However, one should also not forget that these stunts may not have done good to their respective films, it has certainly boosted them to proceed in Bollywood.

Thus, with censors going lenient over the kissing scenes one can expect many more astonishing feats in the area of lip service department. Gone are the days when filmmakers restricted themselves to birds and flowers to convey this passionate act. In today's age essential commodities may have become Mehenga... but chumma has definitely became sasta!!!
