Anand Gandhi's SHIP OF THESEUS (SOT) may have won myriad accolades at various coveted film festivals but its biggest honour has come in the form of a National Award! Yes, the much raved about film has bagged Golden Lotus for Best Feature Film at the 61st National Awards announced recently. Not only this, the documentary feature film GULABI GANG, which was distributed by Anand & his team in India, has also been conferred with the prestigious award!
''It's always great to be appreciated back home. It's obviously a big honour and proves a validation from the government of the country. Winning two National Awards shows that we are welcome to participate in the dialogue of the industry. Both critics and audience supported our film and we are really grateful to them,'' Anand told us after winning the award.
''Though SHIP OF THESEUS has been showered with various honours, the final validation for the film has come from the respected government and it only gives the feeling that people accepted it with open arms,'' he adds
Producer Ruchi, who has been associated with Anand from 2010, says, ''The film got communicated to the masses and they well-received it was an award in itself. We are happy that it reached out to so many people. But when anestablishment like National Awards regards it's a different feeling altogether,'' she further adds, ''I think after SOT being accorded as 15 best films of all time in the critic circle of US, National Award is second best recognition. There is nothing more special than winning a National Award. Of course, it is greatest of all honours and none can match up the level of National Award. Winning an award on home ground is always special.''
Well we wish the entire team heartiest congratulations!
