It won't be a repeat of SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE v/s ZANJEER from last year. While the clash had resulted in Parineeti Chopra towering over Sister Priyanka Chopra in an author backed role, it had seemed that another one was in the making with MARY KOM deciding to arrive on the same day as DAAWAT-E-ISHQ. However, none of that is happening now, what with Yash Raj Films deciding to move their Habib Faisal directed film ahead by a fortnight.
DAAWAT-E-ISHQ, MARY KOM and KHOOBSURAT
As per an official statement from Yash Raj Films, the decision has been taken to 'bring on a unique marketing idea for the film’s promotion which needs more time to implement'.
All of this means that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production MARY KOM would now enjoy a field day on 5th September as it is the sole notable release of the weekend.
On the flipside, it has changed the equation for Sonam Kapoor as her KHOOBSURAT would now face competition from the Parineeti Chopra starrer. While KHOOBSURAT has Sonam's dad Anil Kapoor backing it, DAAWAT-E-ISHQ has the name YRF in the credits which brings its own weight. Promotion of both films is already on which means if at all any decision has to be taken around further movement of any of the two films, it has to be on a really quick note.
With 19th September already occupied with UGLY, TAMANCHEY, ROAR, EKKEES TOPPON KI SALAAMI and BALWINDER SINGH... FAMOUS HO GAYA also vying for the same release date, it would be interesting to see how Bollywood accommodates them all as DAAWAT-E-ISHQ and KHOOBSURAT are already the biggest of them all.
