It was a foregone conclusion that SINGHAM RETURNS, the follow up to team Ajay-Rohit’s highly successful SINGHAM, would embark on a good if not bumper start! And that is how it has been. The first day is likely to be huge and in the 25-30 crore range, as per early estimates.
SINGHAM RETURNS and ENTERTAINMENT
Coming to the details, SINGHAM RETURNS saw an opening in the range of 50-70 percent across India (barring South), with the higher numbers coming from the single screens, as opposed to the multiplexes. The film picked up further during the latter shows and is set for a big 4-day weekend, Monday being a holiday on account of Janamashtmi. It is but obvious that the Ajay-Kareena starrer is a winner all the way, how big, time will tell.
Meanwhile Akshay Kumar’s ENTERTAINMENT ended the first week, netting a decent 54-55 crore (to be validated), but was hit hard by SINGHAM RETURNS on the second Friday, despite the Independence day holiday.
Concluding with Salman Khan’s KICK, the film added another 10 crore plus, thus netting nearly 220 crore in three weeks from India. KICK has now gone past Shah Rukh Khan’s CHENNAI EXPRESS and is the second highest grosser of Hindi cinema, after Aamir Khan’s DHOOM 3.
