Now this could well be just the right kind of follow up that Akshay Kumar would have wanted after HOLIDAY. If his army-man act in the A.R. Murugadoss film was much loved, the First Look of BABY which has just been unveiled only adds on to the intrigue quotient.
By the look of things, Akshay has kept things simple for this Neeraj Pandey directed affair, what with his no-nonsense look with the glares on conveying the message loud and clear that this one would be a good dramatic thriller that would make the action lovers ask for more. Moreover, while Bollywood rarely makes plot-driven films, Neeraj has made two in a row, and that too rather successfully, what with A WEDNESDAY as well as SPECIAL 26 being hailed by the classes as well as the masses.
Now BABY promises pretty much that and those associated with the film claim that Akshay has taken many steps forward with this crisp affair that would be pretty much on the lies of Hollywood action thrillers where realistic entertainers have time and again scored with the audience.
Most importantly, the very title BABY adds on to the suspense element due to its unusual appeal. While one would usually associate a title like this with an out and out fun film targeted at children, the First Look poster pretty much conveys that it is a film that targets a much older age group, especially men folk who like their action flicks to be told in a no-nonsense manner.
No wonder, it is this very approach being followed w.r.t. the release date as well, with the announcement of 23rd January arrival being loud and clear. With a four day weekend right there for the taking (26th January, Republic Day, falls on Monday), BABY is expected to make a killing and one now looks forward to the theatrical promo to be unveiled.
The wait for that would be longer though as the film is still around five months away from release.
