He's in the spotlight, courtesy HASEE TOH PHASEE. Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra are already grabbing attention with the Vinil Mathew flick crafted under the umbrella of Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap.
''I'd directed Karan Johar in a coffee-ad campaign many years back,'' reveals the ad-filmmaker turned director, ''And I've also known Anurag Kashyap for over 15 years now. They've liked my work and they would always tell me that whenever I was ready with a film script, they would only be too willing to work with me.''
That fructified into reality with HASEE TOH PHASEE... and the super casting of Chopra and Malhptra seems to be a factor that has found favour with many.
Reveals Vinil, ''Actually, I was a little confused after I saw Sidharth in STUDENT OF THE YEAR. Initially, I didn't think he would suit the role, but then it was Karan who suggested that I cast him as Nikhil in HASEE TOH PHASEE. Most people think that only Parineeti has the more important role, but the film is film Sidharth's point of view.''
Parineeti, the histrionic highpoint of HASEE TOH PHASEE, however, was almost a foregone conclusion in the casting. ''I'd seen LADIES Vs RICKY BAHL' and I was impressed by the energy and comic timing of Parineeti. I was sure then too that she would be the perfect choice to play the lead character in HASEE TOH PHASEE. Parineeti has played a role that no one has ever tried before.''
Adds he significantly, ''Most people think that the film is more of comedy because of the funny lines that we have used in the promo. But the fact is that HASEE TOH PHASEE also has a whole lot of deep emotions in it.''
