Ali Abbas Zafar is one helluva excited soul. And rightfully so... as his second YRF venture GUNDAY is all set to light up screens, come February 14, 2014. Earlier, his directorial debut MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN, showcasing Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar had raked in revenues worthy of a mention.

''I sat in Yashji's (late Yash Chopra) room and gave him a three-hour narration about the subject of GUNDAY,'' reveals Ali, ''At the end of it, all that Yashji said was that, 'You will be doing my film.' And we have dedicated this film to him. Yashji did do 'Kaala Patthar' based on coal mines and I was quite inspired by it.''

Shedding light on the difficulties that he encountered during the canning of GUNDAY, Ali states, ''We shot at Raniganj which has many coal-mines. The temperature was about 44 degrees and it would be all hot and sweaty. Once we also had a bout of rain when we were filming! We had a cast and crew of about 200 people. Arjun and Ranveer, will be seen running in GUNDAY, from the time they're kids till they grow up and up to the very end. There were all kinds of natural barriers that we faced during the shooting of GUNDAY. Coal is called the black gold and in the sunlight it would bounce off light during the shoot. But I give full credit to my cast and crew for co-operating with me and making it all seem so effortless!''

Raniganj also witnessed a large turn-out of villagers on the sets. States the director,''The moment, people came to know that Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh were there to shoot GUNDAY, the crowds would start increasing, day by day. Everyday, we would have crowds of about 15,000 to 20,000 watching the shooting... and they were getting the experience for free.'' (smiles).

Will the black gold saga fetch golden returns? Results out, Feb.14....
