Alia Bhatt's HIGHWAY decent at multiplexes, Priyanka Chopra's GUNDAY amasses 65 crore

Very much as we had indicated in our regular box-office column, Imtiaz Ali's Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt starrer HIGHWAY did not quite impress at the turnstile. Still the 30-35 percent start at many multiplexes can be termed as decent. The single screens though are a matter of concern, given the 10-20 percent start on an average.
GUNDAY and HIGHWAY
Having said that, there was a marked improvement in the collections during the latter shows, and if the trend continues through the weekend (hopefully), it will auger well for HIGHWAY.
Meanwhile, last Friday's major release, the Ali Abbas Zafar directed Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor starrer GUNDAY saw a good first week netting in the Rs. 63-65 crore range (initial estimation) during the opening week. Given the reasonably good second Friday, Yash Raj Films' GUNDAY is all set to be at least a semi-hit, if not more.
Concluding with Karan Johar's HASEE TOH PHASEE, after a decent first week (27 crore), the Sidharth, Adah and Parineeti starrer crashed in the second week netting barely Rs. 6-7 crore (to be validated). The film can at best be rated as an above average fare with Rs.33-34 crore in two week.
