The name Ravindra Jain conjures music that is soothing and pleasant to hear. Who can forget peerless melodies like 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se Iii'..., 'Jab Deep Jale Aana'..., 'Tera Mera Saath Rahe..', ..., however despite giving umpteen such classical songs in low budget films it is Ravindra Jain's music in Raj Kapoor's movie RAM TERI GANGA MAILI that made him a star director overnight. However winning Raj Kapoor's movie was a hard nut to crack, as per an honest admission from the music-composer himself.
In an interview Ravindra Jain said, ''I always aspired to compose music for Raj Kapoor, but Kapoor sahib always turned down my requests assuring me that he would give me a break when the right time comes. The best part was that he never discarded me but encouraged me to continue my work.''
He continues, ''I always phoned him and reminded at parties, but in vain. However, after a patient lingering of over one decade, one day he called me to be a part of his birthday party that was being celebrated at Pune. There he asked me to sing the tune of Sun Saiba Sun...which he had heard me singing at a private party in the past. After hearing the song his face lit with joy and he said, ''This is it! You are working for my forthcoming movie RAM TERI GANGA MAILI.''
The result: not only was the movie a super hit and its music a chartbuster, but Ravindra Jain won his first 'Best Music- Director' Filmfare Award. Interestingly the song Sun Saiba Sun... reached the top position at the prestigious Binaca Geetmala Hit parade in 1985.
Ravindra Jain turns 70 on February 28. Glamsham.Com wishes him birthday greeting and prays for his long and healthy life.
