Singer Sanam Puri is on a roll, what with his new song 'Ishq Bulaava' from Sidharth Malhotra-Parineeti Chopra starrer HASEE TOH PHASEE releasing today. Ask him to tell us something about this new romantic number and he explains, ''It is a Punjabi love song with beautiful lyrics. I fell in love with the composition as soon as I heard it. I could relate to it lyrically while recording the song. Yeah it was fun.''
'Ishq Bulaava' is Sanam's second association with music composers Vishal-Shekhar and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, his first song being 'Dhat Teri Ki' from GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN, that released in November last year. So how was your experience working with them again? ''Well working with Vishal-Shekharji has always been great. They are very experienced and they know who's voice will go with which song. And it is not easy to foresee, that a person who has sung a fast song will be able to pull off this song. So I am damn happy about it,'' says Sanam.
Since your Bollywood debut song was 'Dhat Teri Ki', a party number, was it difficult to sing a romantic number like 'Ishq Bulaava', which has slight of a folk tinge to it? ''Well 'Ishq Bulaava' wasn't difficult. For that matter even 'Dhat Teri Ki' wasn't. But yes initially I took time to sing because I am used to singing with all the energy. So I had to tone down a bit and blend with the song. Once that happened, I was comfortable singing it. And also I was glad that I could display my versatility with this song,'' reveals Sanam.
So which is your personal favourite? 'Dhat Teri Ki' or 'Ishq Bulaava'? ''Personally I would prefer 'Ishq Bulaava' over 'Dhat Teri Ki' because I love singing slow songs,'' confesses Puri.
Do we see your hat-trick with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and music composers Vishal-Shekhar? ''I hope that happens soon,'' says Sanam before signing off.
Presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl's Phantom Productions, HASEE TOH PHASEE, directed by Vinil Mathew, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, and is all set to release on February 7, 2014.
