Salman Khan's JAI HO great at single screens, average at multiplexes!

The opening of Salman Khan's Sohail Khan directed JAI HO has gone as per our predictions. Though it was the first big-budget major star cast release of 2014, JAI HO could not embark upon a bumper start as has been the norm for all Salman Khan starrers, WANTED onwards.
Interestingly, this is the fourth time that Sohail Khan is directing brother Salman Khan. While the first outing AUZAAR was an average fare, the second attempt PYAAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA was a huge hit. The last film that he directed with Salman was HELLO BROTHER, which was a box-office debacle.
Coming to JAI HO and the actual stats, the film embarked on a great 70-90 percent start at the single screens but the multiplexes were quite low down hovering at around 50 percent. While the best performance comes from Mumbai circuit and to be exact Gujarat's capital, Ahmedabad, where the multiplexes saw a rocking 80-90 percent start. Surprisingly strong regions, like Delhi-UP, East Punjab and Hyderabad -Nizam are not performing as well as Salman's previous few releases, as far as the multiplexes are concerned. The first day is expected to be in the range of around 18-19 crore, as per early estimates.
All said and done, Salman's unquestionable star power is likely to result in a good pick up on Saturday and especially Sunday (Republic Day), thereby ensuring a good weekend haul.
