Arjun Kapoor: Untold story of metro-sexual youth with 'hairy' lineage

The brawny new age star of Bollywood with permanent stubble is very particular about his looks.  Arjun Kapoor, son of Boney Kapoor and nephew of Anil Kapoor, is genealogically ‘hairy’ and had a beard at an early age of 15 that required regular trimming. Since then the personal care products like hair trimmers and the mirrors have played key roles in his life. He goes regularly for manicures and pedicures and even ‘facials’. He trims his beard every alternate day and firmly believes that women like to see him bearded.

Arjun disclosed these ‘closet’ secrets to the media during the launch of a range of male grooming products at a five star hotel in Mumbai suburbs.

He said that he had been like that since his young days. He always knew he would become an actor by profession who live off their looks. He considers himself a ‘metro-sexual’ man who is the target audience of the fast growing men’s personal care and grooming market that has merely 8% share in the $10 billion (Rs.61,000 crore) personal care industry at present.

His star appeal has widened considerably after the super-solo-box-office success of his film 2 STATES. He plays a suave and sophisticated role of a sensitive IIM (A) graduate in it. This was a big departure from his earlier films that capitalized more on his brawny persona. Arjun has now emerged as a ‘metrosexual’ youth icon much sought after by companies marketing male grooming products in India.

One such top of the line global brand has appointed him as the ‘brand ambassador’ of its male grooming business in India. He will be particularly promoting the pro-skin advanced trimmer launched by the company at the event mentioned above.

While speaking on the occasion, one of the top executives of the company said, “Arjun personifies everything male grooming stands for - youth, style, and confidence. Who better than him to endorse the male grooming product range that is designed to give the youth the power to be style icons in themselves.”
