'It is an entertainer. It is designed on the lines of DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE. But then it is not a quintessential Bollywood romantic film with its over the top moments' - Now this is the kind of message we have come across during HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA promotions all through even as Alia Bhatt is craving for a Kareena Kapoor 'lehenga' while Varun Dhawan is sobbing away while watching Simran plead away in front of her 'Bauji' to let her go and be with her Raj.
So how real do the situations get in this Karan Johar production which liberally picks up from a legendary love story without seeming like a spoof?
"See it is an entertainer and we are promising happiness, comedy and romance," says Alia, "Yes, there are a few emotional moments in the film of course; after all, a love story can't be just happy. Still, the emotions on play are not over the top. There is no melodrama or clichéd romance. Everything comes at just the right time and in right doses. Most importantly, the situations that you see in there are filmy but neither Varun nor I react to them as it happens in Bollywood romantic tales. It is a modern day tribute to DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE while being a real take on affairs."

Meanwhile, she continues to be mighty impressed with her partner Varun in the film.
Says Alia, "There is a Humpty in everyone. In fact there is a point in life where you or I could be Humpty. That's because he is not a very calculative person. Also, he is not conscious at all of his actions. He is what he is; there is no facade about it. If there is something that he feels, it shows on his face."
Well, we would now like to see audience reactions, what with the Shashank Khaitan directed film running in theaters all over.
