This is clearly Riteish Deshmukh's season. If his comic timing in HUMSHAKALS fetched him laurels all over again, his villainous act in EK VILLAIN ensured that he had one more 100 crore success to his name after HOUSEFULL 2 and GRAND MASTI. Now his makeover into a 'dabangg' hero for Marathi film LAI BHAARI has managed to gain a massive response as well, hence resulting in 'bhaari' push for fortunes of the man who has managed to get his right due after spending a decade in the industry.
So how does he feel has his entry point as a leading man in a Marathi film turned out to be?
"Well, I am trying my best. The signs were just right when we started promotion of the film. Typically, for a Marathi film there is a promotion window of two week. We started more than a month back. In fact thanks to Vashu ji (Bhagnani), Ekta (Kapoor) and Fox who were so kind to attach the promo of LAI BHAARI with HUMSHAKALS and EK VILLAIN. That allowed the film to reach where no other Marathi film had managed before. I am told that even up North, the promo met with a good response. We have managed to get a wide theatrical release for the film amongst the target audience," says Riteish.
CHECK OUT: With whom does Riteish Deshmukh share a special bond?
Expectedly, he is keeping a close watch on how LAI BHAARI, his first out and out action drama, does at the box office so that he can take further call as a producer to mount his next, which may well be in Hindi.
"Yes, I would love to make a Hindi film. If we get a good script then why not," says Riteish, "I am also looking forward to a film with Genelia. It could be sometimes next year. Let's see."
We are looking forward to that Riteish.
