Now this could well be a record for Bollywood. In AMIT SAHNI KI LIST, there is an unusual narrative being followed. While it is a norm to have an actor in the film address audience by looking straight in the camera, it is mostly for a scene or two or for a few funny episodes. However in this Ajay Bhuyan directed film, it happens for over 30% of the running length, which is a record by all means.
Confirms the man in picture (pun intended), Vir Das, "Yes, that's true indeed. We wanted to break that wall between the actor and the audience. In any case, today there isn't anything like hero worship. Celebrities too are so well connected with their fans on social media so why not bring a character closer to the viewer as well. We jammed on this idea and ultimately felt that it would bring in quite some connect between the film and the audience if we follow this technique. We loved it so much that a major part of the narrative comprises of situations like these where I address the audience directly."
Apparently, most of this happens when Vir is in the process of ticking against his wish list when it comes to the girl of his dreams.
CHECK OUT: Vir Das pretty confident about AMIT SAHNI KI LIST
"It makes for an interesting watch indeed," says Vir who has been delivering consistently since DELHI BELLY with GO GOA GONE and REVOLVER RANI finding him further recognition, "Since I have been active as a stand-up comedian, it was also fun to amalgamate that aspect of my profession into a film as well. Though I am not cracking one liners here, since I am quite comfortable talking directly to the audience on stage, it was a good experiment to bring that on in a film as well while continuing to do my job as an actor."
We would love to see how this all unfolds on screen once this Tina Nagpaul, Kavita Kulkarni and Sujata Vemuri produced film releases all over this Friday.
