KICK has released and though one can sense that Chetan Bhagat, one of the screenplay writers of the film, was supremely charged right through the exercise, there was also an author in him who was looking at doing things differently.
SALMAN KHAN and CHETAN BHAGAT
''Yes, I won't deny that as a writer, there was a new approach that followed for this assignment. It was a different ballgame altogether because let's face it, KICK was a big hit down South and the very germ of it cannot be ignored. We had to respect that and keep the very thought process and core of the film intact. At the same time we needed to bring in newer things as well otherwise what's the point in just rehashing it'', questions Chetan.
''Sajid (Nadiadwala) wanted me to make something contemporary and extend the plot further. In the film, my job was to explain the protagonist's (Salman Khan) mindset further. Having said that, somewhere down the corner I do feel that this was a relatively safe assignment because KICK is an author backed plot and there were experienced people like Salman and Sajid involved'', adds Chetan.
Well, he is right indeed because if audience acceptance of the film is anything to go by, Chetan along with other writers on the film have indeed managed to deliver what Sajid and Salman asked for.
