Sharib Hashmi: FILMISTAAN was a big offer for me!

Now this is what can be actually termed as a true 'luck by chance' moment. Even though Sharib Hashmi, who had played Shahrukh Khan's roomie in JAB TAK HAI JAAN, had written dialogues of FILMISTAAN, he had never imagined that ultimately he would be mouthing them all in front of the camera too and that to as a central protagonist. This isn't all as even after being promised the film, he felt that it was just a momentary acknowledgment by director Nitin Kakkar, who would ultimately rope in someone far more saleable.
Laughs Sharib, 'While the story, concept and screenplay was all done by Nitin, who we call as Vicky by the way, I had done the dialogues. Yes, Vicky used to tell me that the role was mine but then I thought he was just saying it and would ultimately forget all about it once he would find a producer. However, later when he actually had a producer on board, he really offered me the part, which was too good to be true for me. It was a very big offer for me as I knew that the story and screenplay of the film was very strong. Meanwhile, I was aware of the character in and out.'
The film was shot in quick time and was ready around the same time when JAB TAK HAI JAAN was released in Diwali 2012. However, the makers of FILMISTAAN wisely decided to take the film through festival route and in the process, it also won a National Award for itself.
Now that the film is finding a good theatrical release tomorrow, Sharib is positive that anyone and everyone who watches the film would love it.
'Since the promo has been out, I have been getting calls and message on all my social network handles. The response has been amazing but let me tell you, the trailer is just the tip of the iceberg. Whoever comes to see the film, I can say that with 100% confidence that he won't leave the theater with any sort of disappointment,' he promises.
