Power of word of mouth has worked for HOLIDAY. The film, after taking a decent start, has seen a mighty push at the box office, hence resulting in over 41 crore coming in after its first weekend. While Akshay Kumar is of course happy with the response, he is thrilled with the fact that his action avatar in the film has been loved by the audience.
Though he has performed action in his last few films like BOSS, KHILADI 786 and of course ROWDY RATHORE, what makes HOLIDAY different is the realistic streak that Hollywood action director Greg Powell and his team brought to the proceedings.
Says Akshay, "Greg Powell and his team of stuntmen were, in my eyes, absolutely brilliant. Right from their discipline to their style, not to mention their incredible talents, they were just brilliant. It was beyond refreshing to work with them."
Some of the key scenes that are being spoken around are the ones where Akshay takes on the baddies on a ship in the climax, the one where he confronts terrorists in a basement and of course the brilliant sequence before interval point when he and his team of army men foil terrorists' plan to blow up the city. Most of these have an international presentation to them.
However, Akshay doesn't forget to acknowledge the contribution that Indian action has made to many of his films.
"I love our famous Indian action style and I will knock anyone out who says that they are tired of it," smiles Akshay, "Indian action is something to be very proud of as we have a style that no other country can dare perform. Our stuntmen literally kill themselves to give a good shot for their stunt masters. But I agree that it does not belong in every film and HOLIDAY is one of those films."
