Kabir Sadanand: I wouldn't have done justice to FUGLY script, had I taken older actors

After working with veterans Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia in TUM MILO TOH SAHI, Kabir Sadanand is now returning as a director with FUGLY for which he has roped in newcomers. Considering the fact that this time around he had Akshay Kumar as a producer, Kabir could have roped in any established actor or even him for that matter. Still, why did Kabir opt for a new cast?
'That's because the film is primarily about 18-19 year old boys. I would not have done justice to the script had I taken older actors. Working with these youngsters brings element of rawness and unpredictability. Also, there is no baggage that you carry with them,' says Kabir.
The film also features a newcomer girl in the form of Kiara Advani. She indeed appears like a spark in all around ruggedness that surrounds her.
'Well, she is a today's girl in Delhi. She has a great sense of fashion and knows how to carry herself, both in reel and real life. She is no doubt a stunner, a beautiful looking woman but her strong point is her personality. Hence, Kiara's character of a free spirit person is such that if you take panga with her, she will give it back to you,' he says.
Kabir goes on to add, 'Through her, I am bringing forth my argument that why can't a woman be as carefree as anybody else on the street? Why does she have to always think what she is wearing and how she is walking?'
With this and many more questions that Kabir has apparently put forth in the film, one waits to see what FUGLY has to offer when it releases all over on 13th June, this Friday. The movie features Jimmy Shergill, Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Vijender Singh & Arfi Lamba.
