Why K. Asif is revered as the greatest filmmaker?

The name K. Asif shall be embossed in golden letter of Indian Cinema for creating the incredible classic MUGHAL-E-AZAM. Everybody is aware that the most popular song of MUGHAL-E-AZAM 'Pyar kiya tu darna kya' was shot in color but few are aware that it took over two years to construct the eye dazzling Sheesh Mahal and it cost a whopping Rs 15 Lakh (Ten times more, if made today). Hence the financer of the movie Shapoorji Pallonji had declined Asif's request to shoot the song in color.
But K. Asif was undeterred and went away erecting his dream Sheesh Mahal for which he spent every penny that he received from Shapoorji and whatever he had from his savings. Insiders close to him reveal Asif's dedication for the set was so intense that he slept on a mat on the floors in Mohan Studios in Mumbai supervising the set and compromised not a penny on its grandeur.
He imported superior quality glass from Belgium. Employed highly skilled workers around India and took utter care to equal the authenticity of Mughul majesty. When the set was ready Shapoorji visited the set and was bowled over by its magnificence. He hugged Asif and instantly gave him the nod to complete the entire climax of the movie in color!
However, what may further stun readers is that when the set was ready for shooting all hell went loose as the mirrors reflected the light and it seemed impossible to shoot! To add salt to injury an expert from Europe even commented that it would never be possible to shoot on the set. But the great Asif was not to give up as he worked round the clock and eventually found a solution to the problem. He used a unique method of lighting the set with reflectors and got the desired result thus proving his brilliance as filmmaker par excellence.
