Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films who have jointly given us successful commercial films in the past, are all set to give us a path-breaking movie experience with CITYLIGHTS, that is all set to release on 1st May, 2014.
CITYLIGHTS is an official remake of the international award-winning film METRO MANILA that has received critical acclaim and won awards at 'British Independent Film Awards', 'Amazonas Film Festival', 'Sundance Film Festival' and 'Hamburg Film Festival,' apart from being the British entry for 'Best Foreign Language' Film at the '86th Academy Awards'.
The film is directed by Hansal Mehta and stars Rajkummar Rao, who recently wowed the audience and walked away with awards for his outstanding performance in SHAHID.
Interestingly, this movie sees the return of the director-actor collaboration and from their past success; we are placing our bets on this movie, as well.
CITYLIGHTS is based on the life of a farmer in Rajasthan who comes to the city of Mumbai with his wife and daughter in the hope of a better life. The challenges they face, their encounter with a big city and how they rise to meet those challenges nurtured by the power of their love, is what CITYLIGHTS is all about.
In the words of Mahesh Bhatt, ''CITYLIGHTS is a moving love story that begins in a village and peaks in a city.''
Rajkummar Rao is paired opposite actress Patralekha, who will be making her debut with this film.
Releasing on 1st May, 2014, CITYLIGHTS will witness the emergence of a new genre and give the audiences an altogether new cinematic experience.
