As expected and predicted in our box-office report, the prominent release of the week, Yash Raj Films' Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, BEWAKOOFIYAAN, embarked on a dull note. There was a pick up at select city multiplexes during the latter shows, but not very significant. The start and not so great pick up (despite good weather) does not auger well for the Nupur Asthana directed film. Having said that, the film is expected to fare best at Delhi-NCR and East Punjab circuits.
BEWAKOOFIYAAN and QUEEN
Meanwhile, from last Friday's bunched releases, namely Ali Zafar's TOTAL SIYAPAA, Madhuri-Juhi starrer GULAAB GANG and the Kangana Ranaut and Rajkumar Rao venture, QUEEN, it was Vikas Bahl's QUEEN which trended very well during the weekdays netting a creditable 16-17 crore during the opening week. The film is holding well in the second week and is all set to become a big success.
As far as Anubhav Sinha's GULAAB GANG is concerned, after a dominating opening weekend the film couldn't quite capitalize during the weekdays netting around 15 crore (to be validated) during the first week.
The last mentioned venture, TOTAL SIYAPAA, turned out to be a film that was neither for the masses nor the classes, though it expectedly scored with the Indo-Pak diaspora in the overseas circuit given Ali Zafar's popularity with that segment.
