After enthralling us throughout 90s & early 2000 with his melodious voice, the leading singer of Bollywood, Kumar Sanu is all set be seen in a new avatar! Well, the news is rife that the ace singer is making his debut as an actor on-screen with YRF's Ayushmann Khurrana starrer DUM LAGA KE HAISHA.
However, as per the singer this isn't his first stint on the celluloid. ''I made my first foray into acting with a Bengali film GANE BHUBAN BHARIYE DEBO. I had also appeared on-screen, though only in a song 'Yeh Dua Hai Meri Rab Se' in the film SAPNE SAJAN KE. Yes, but you can say that this is my first film with Yash Raj banner in terms of acting,'' reveals the singer.
Ask if he is excited or nervous and Sanu Da replies swiftly, ''No, why should I be nervous?''
Sanu Da is playing himself in the film. Apparently, the character of Ayushmann Khurrana, who plays the lead role in the film, steps out in pursuit of meeting his idol Kumar Sanu in Haridwar.
However, quiz further Sanu Da about his role in the film, he denies to reveal anything more at this juncture.
While Sanu Da is currently in London busy with his other assignments, the singer-turned-actor will soon fly to Hrishikesh and shoot for his part on 7th April.
Besides acting Sanu Da has two songs in the film - one being solo and other one is a duet number. It is being said that he will recreate 90s music magic with this one.
Says Sanu Da, ''Yes I have two songs in the film. The duet one is already recorded, while my solo song is yet to be rendered. It's true that the film's music will have 90s touch.''
On a parting note, ask Sanu Da if he plans to get into acting full-fledgedly much like his contemporaries and he says, ''I can play character roles for sure. But I can't play the mainstream hero at this age.''
