Gosh, Bollywood continues to baffle like never before. Just when the industry was looking at recovering from half a dozen flops that went down together during the week gone by, there are plans for mayhem already underway. That, when audience, critics and trade had just recently come up with a collective cry of 'too many movies together are injurious to the industry'!

Come Friday, the 13th of June, and as many as four films have suddenly announced it as their release date. These are MACHHLI JAL KI RANI HAI, CHAL BHAAG, AHIMSA, 18.11 (A CODE OF SECRECY...!). This, when a prominent film FUGLY had already been slated for arrival on this day for so long. No wonder, it is baffling to see such a huge chunk of films coming together from nowhere.

While MACHHLI JAL KI RANI HAI with newcomers is a horror affair (and hence stays true to the adage of a horror arrival on Friday, the 13th), CHAL BHAAG is a action-comedy with Deepak Dobriyal leading the cast. AHIMSA, again with newcomers, boasts of a rather unusual subject as it deals with creation of awareness and movement against - hold your breath - 'cow slaughter'. On the other hand 18.11 (A CODE OF SECRECY...!) is a sci-fi thriller which has veterans Gulshan Grover and Prem Chopra giving support to newcomer Rehal Khan.

'On the face value some of these films sound interesting. However, the million dollar question is, will they get a proper release, screens and show timings,' quips a maker on condition of anonymity, 'Last week when KOYELAANCHAL, YEH HAI BAKRAPUR, MASTRAM, MANJUNATH and KHWAAB came together, they struggled for screen space since HAWAA HAWAAI saw the widest release and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 along with 2 STATES were still running. Now it is pretty much a given fact that FUGLY, even with newcomers, would lead the show since it is backed by Akshay Kumar and seeing the widest marketing and promotion.''

With Akshay's own HOLIDAY arriving on 6th June, FILMISTAAN (which releases alongside HOLIDAY) looking interesting too and HUMSHAKALS seeing a huge release on 20th June, one wonders when would Bollywood learn from its lessons and multiple newer releases would stop arriving in a heap.
