Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan could well be continuing their party of 2 STATES and MAIN TERA HERO respectively. In less than two months from now, they would seen together again (after STUDENT OF THE YEAR) in HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA. Meanwhile, Karan Johar is all set to unveil the first look of the film on 26th of this month, hence revealing the complete transition that Alia and Varun have gone through for this musical romantic comedy.
Karan Johar as well as first time director Shashank Khaitan were sure that Alia as well as Varun had to do something that they hadn't done ever before in their short career so far. For starters, they are now playing hardcore Punjabis in HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA. Of course Varun plays the title role.
Agrees Alia, "Yes, that's true. I am playing a loud Punjabi brat. I am looking at catering to a massy crowd, which are poles apart from my other roles. While I play a girl from Ambala, Varun plays a Punjabi from Delhi. I have seen his MAIN TERA HERO and really liked it since it is a typical David Dhawan comedy. Now, HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA takes us into a different zone though."
Incidentally, both Varun and Alia played South Indians in MAIN TERA HERO and 2 STATES respectively. While Varun is now stepping into the zone of a quintessential Punjabi, Alia is going through a complete image transition in the film. Also, she doesn't carry any of her Delhi traits from HIGHWAY or Tamil background from 2 STATES.
