In ARDH SATYA Sadashiv Amrapurkar played Rama Shetty, a corrupt local hoodlum having influential contacts with top politicians and police officials. Filmmaker Govind Nihalani wanted an actor who could genuinely play the nuance of the character and portray the role without being loud and be nonchalant.
After rejecting many actors Govind Nihalani happened to find Sadashiv Amrapurkar, while watching a Marathi play. He was impressed by Sadashiv's histrionics. Besides Sadashiv being a Maharashtrian, he had a perfect accent that gelled well with the role of the menacing yet nonchalant, Rama Shetty.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar plays almost a cameo role in the movie. He appears on the screen in mere four or five scenes. Also he has no scary make up, a deep baritone or elegant costume as is customary in typical Bollywood movies like Mr. INDIA, SHAAN, YAADON KI BAARAAT etc. but minus all the ingredients that makes the villain lethal, Sadashiv Amrapurkar stole the thunder and went way winning the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
What is most stunning is that Sadashiv Amrapurkar won the award beating two dynamic actors like Amitabh Bachchan who gave his career best role in ANDHA KANOON and Naseeruddin Shah in KATHA.
Glamsham. Com pays our humble homage to Sadashiv Amrapurkar and pray his soul rest in peace.
