Akshay Kumar may have made us laugh our guts out loud with his dozen odd comedy films but the star reveals that he never thought that he too had a funny side hidden in him until he met the filmmakers like Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi, etc.
Akshay, who is gearing up for yet another comic outing THE SHAUKEENS, shares, “Even I didn't know that I had a funny bone in me till I met Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi and others and did films with them. They made me realize that I can do comedy. I used to fear comedies initially. But gradually they made me realize that I can do funny things very fast, that I had funny bone hidden in me somewhere. And I think it's the action image which makes the actor appear funnier. For instance, When Amitabh Bachchan, who was known as angry young man back then, used to do comedy, people used to have hearty laugh. Similarly, whenever action star Bruce Lee attempted comedy, people used to burst out into laughter.”

In THE SHAUKEENS, Akshay plays an alcoholic superstar and will be seen taking potshots at himself. Ask him how comfortable it is to make fun of yourself, and he says, “To make fun of yourself is a big deal. I am making fun of myself in the film and I found it absolutely funny. In fact, I crack jokes upon my name than poking fun at others because that is more hilarious.”
Also starring Lisa Haydon, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, THE SHAUKEENS is directed by Abhishek Sharma (TERE BIN LADEN fame), written by Tigmanshu Dhulia and it is all set to hit the screens on November 7, 2014.
