Having followed box-office trends for quite some time, one has witnessed a certain pattern regarding release of films prior to and after a big budgeted, star studded and highly awaited film(s). More often than not, films that have released before or after a big budgeted extravaganza have either failed to enthuse the audience or have not performed as per expectations, as the cine-goers have preferred to wait for that particular big venture.
Following a similar trend most of the films that have released recently, have fallen prey to the Raj Kumar Hirani directed Aamir Khan starrer, PK. In fact all the films - SUPER NANI, ROAR, THE SHAUKEENS, KILL/DIL, and the most recent release HAPPY ENDING, which after taking a decent opening and showing some growth towards latter shows, flattered to deceive.
CHECK OUT: Saif Ali Khan's HAPPY ENDING fairly impresses, 30 crore from Ranveer Singh's KILL/DIL!
There were good expectations from Indra Kumar's SUPER NANI and even more from Akshay Kumar's THE SHAUKEENS, which in spite of some critical appreciations faltered at the ticket window. Even Yash Raj Films' KILL/DIL with stars like Govinda, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar was trounced. So, as of now it appears that the audience is awaiting PK and is refusing to come out in hordes for other films.
Well, one can only hope that the trend is reversed and the expectations that Bollywood has rested with films like Emraan Hashmi's UNGLI (28th Nov), Anubhav Sinha's ZID (28th Nov), Adil Hussain's ZED PLUS (28th November) and Ajay Devgn's ACTION JACKSON (5th Dec), come good and one can witness some successful outings after HAPPY NEW YEAR and before PK, which releases on 19th December.
