With KAMINEY (2009) proving as the successful venture for director-actor duo Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor, all eyes are now set on their second outing HAIDER. In fact, it was KAMINEY which broke Shahid’s ‘chocolate boy’ image and put him in a different tab altogether. So it is quite expected that HAIDER would also spell some magic for the actor.
When we asked Shahid about associating with Vishal yet again, he quickly said, “I am fortunate that I did two very challenging roles KAMINEY and HAIDER written by him. And I really don’t know how to break it down or analyse it. It’s never a question. It’s highly unlikely that I would never do his film. The fact that it was Vishal’s film was the biggest factor for me to do HAIDER.”
“Our relationship has really grown. I don’t know what he sees in me which other people don’t. He is also somebody who always makes different films. And it’s not just me but whoever has worked with him has experienced that. He has always brought out something new in his actors whether male or female,” he further expands.|
According to Shahid, female protagonists have enough scope to perform in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film.
“Interestingly, he is also somebody who always gives female protagonists an amazing opportunity to perform and do intelligent role instead of just dancing around. Whether Tabu’s character in MAQBOOL or Konkona and Kareena in OMKARA or Priyanka in KAMINEY, where she had eight scenes, and SAAT KHOON MAAF or Anushka Sharma in MATRU, they all did a great job and had good scope to do their bit. And now even in HAIDER Shraddha and Tabu mam’s characters are truly great,” says the actor.
Also starring Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, HAIDER is all set to release on October 2nd, 2014.
