Chaitanya Tamhane's COURT, is all set to release in India on 17h April. It has created waves all over by winning numerous awards at various film festivals, a feat which was completed unexpected according to Chaitanya.

Says the director, “Never expected COURT to win so many awards. In fact, we were very confused and worried while we were making the film and during post production. We didn't know who is going to be the audience for this film. It is set in such a cultural context. It has a Marathi milieu. We thought the international audience won't get it because it's so alien to them culturally. And in India, it is so hard for an independent film to find a platform.  We just went ahead and made the film which we wanted to make. So now what has happened in the last seven months has come as a very big surprise.”

The film recently won the National Award in the best feature film category.
