WAZIR – Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 27 year old dream boasts an eclectic cast of Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. Interestingly, the title of WAZIR – a story about two unlikely friends - a wheelchair-bound chess grandmaster (Amitabh Bachchan) and an ATS officer (Farhan Akhtar) has nothing to do with chess and it's the name of Neil Nitin Mukesh's character in the film who plays the antagonist.

Indeed, Neil is having good times being bad, recently he was pitted against superstar Salman Khan in this year's Diwali bonanza – PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO. Last year he showed his villainy side in A.R. Murugadoss Tamil blockbuster KATHTHI starring Vijay in the lead.

If you are thinking Neil's good run as the bad guy is the reason for his casting in the movie then hold on.. here is a surprise. Before Neil Nitin Mukesh's antagonist adventures, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was awed by those striking black and white portions in Bejoy Nambiar's 2013 flick DAVID. Neil Nitin Mukesh's version was shot in the sepia tone that celebrated the hippy pop culture of the 70's with élan. Impressed by Neil in those portions that showcased some flattering movie making techniques, Neil got selected for WAZIR.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra says, “Saw the black and white portions of DAVID and found Neil perfect for the role of WAZIR”. On being asked why it was titled on Neil's character, an antagonist, when you have icons like Mr. Bachchan and national award winning actor like Farhan Akhtar as central characters, Vidhu Vinod Chopra says, “The title of Aamir Khan starrer GHAJINI was also on the antagonist, we felt this is the suited for our film and Nitin has a good role to play”.

Seems like Neil Nitin Mukesh is not doing just a cameo in the film as reported earlier by certain section of the media. WAZIR has lots more in store, so stay tuned for more..
