Bhushan Kumar: I am not making films for music
February 10, 2015 5:42:55 PM IST By Rachana Sheth, Glamsham Editorial
T-series head honcho and producer Bhushan Kumar, who's known for giving musical hits like AASHIQUI 2, YAARIYAN, READY, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS and many others, feels that music is absolutely essential for the film. If you have good music, it fetches a good opening for the film.
“The contribution of music in films' success is huge. All the surveys also suggest how important music is for the film. It is very important for the opening of the film. But you need to have 2-3 chartbusters in your film. Only then it will benefit the film. But I feel music is also important to market a film more than making it popular or making an opening, so that you can get a good product,” says Bhushan.
Bhushan further explains how music is important in marketing the film. “When you want to promote your films on television platform you can just promote the music; you can't promote the portion of a film. So for such platforms, you miss the opportunity if you don't have good music. That is the reason we add promotional songs.”
On one side if Bhushan is enthralling the audience with musical blockbusters, then on other hand he is also backing non-musical projects like BABY, so that people don't feel he is making films only for music.
“It was a conscious call to do BABY, so that people shouldn't feel that I am just making films for music. No, I am not making films for music. We are not only making music oriented films. It's to reach out to other actors, directors and primarily audience,” says Bhushan as he signs off.
