The quirky song from HEY BRO ‘Birju' has been making waves for various reasons. Firstly, it brings five superstars- Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh and ace choreographer-turned-filmmaker Prabhudheva together. Secondly, it is a tribute to the cult classic film MOTHER INDIA. The song, which has hilarious rap and lyrics, addresses to the iconic characters ‘Birju' and ‘Lala' and takes on a particular premise of the film.

It was a brainchild of Ganesh Acharya, who features in the film and the special song, and music director Nitz'N'Sony. Though the film has been completed in less than a year, the song ‘Birju' was composed and ready 7-8 years ago. Ganesh specially wanted to incorporate this song in the film and pay a tribute to the characters of MOTHER INDIA.

Maninder, who plays Ganesh's twin brother in the film, discloses, ''Ganesh and music director Nitz'N'Sony had the song from 7-8 years. It was Ganesh's idea to pay tribute to MOTHER INDIA. And to do justice to the song, they thought it should have big stars. So they brought in Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh and Prabhudheva. Ganesh texted them and they happily agreed to be part of it.''

''We are delighted that the song has been getting amazing response. People are loving it. And it was created to evoke or make today's youth aware about MOTHER INDIA,'' he adds.

While Maninder plays the lead role, he doesn't feature in the song. Quiz him about the same and he says, ''It was a creative call to not to have me in the song. Basically, the situation of the film is such that I am not required in the song. However, I was very well present when the song was being canned. I met Ajay and Amit  ji, with whom I share quite a good rapport, after a long time. And interestingly, the song was shot with all of them together after adjusting with everyone's dates.''

The song birju is sung by Mika Singh and Udit Narayan while the lyrics are penned by Pranav Vatsa.
Directed by Ajay Chandhok, HEY BRO is all set to hit the screens on February 27, 2015.
