For Varun Dhawan, who has done only commercial entertainers (STUDENT OF THE YEAR, MAIN TERA HERO & HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA), it was no less than a risk for him to do a film like BADLAPUR! Especially when almost everyone thought it was a very big risk for him. But Varun took the risk and it has work well in his favour as the audience and the industry have loved his rugged look in the film!
At the ‘Jee Karda'song launch from BADLAPUR, Varun said that this film is for the people who thought he was cheesy and he was also scared about his character being accepted & liked by everyone.

''I was 100 % scared. And Dinu (Dinesh Vijan) had said that I might scare children away and stuff like that. But I think we have a lot of intelligent people in our country. They know that this is just a character, I don't actually roam around with a hammer. I am quite friendly. I am doing a lot of stuff for the kids, there is ABCD 2 which is totally a kids film and there is another film that's going to be announced soon. There is a lot for the kids ahead, but BADLAPUR is something for the adults, something for the people who thought I was cheesy, so they'll get this dose as well,'' said Varun.
Also starring Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Divya Dutta, Radhika Apte & others, BADLAPUR is directed by Sriram Raghavan & produced by Dinesh Vijan & Sunil Lulla. The film is set to release on 20th February, 2015.
