The trailer of Nikhil Advani's upcoming film KATTI BATTI starring Imran Khan & Kangana Ranaut has received a lot of mixed response. A few scenes especially the ‘little soldier' one has been loved by the youth, but there are some who have got offended with the use of the term ‘solider'.
When asked Nikhil if the Indian audience as a whole will be able to connect with the slangs, certain scenes & other aspects of the film, he said, “When I was depressed after one of my films did not do well, my wife told me ‘you aren't god, you can't make everybody happy; do what you want and be true to the genre and the film.' So I stopped trying to do that. I just want to be able to connect to the people who I think that the film is made for. Obviously, I wish everybody comes and watches it because I think there is 90% of the film which is not there in the trailer. In the next couple of weeks we'll be showing you the glimpses of the films.”

He added, “If you don't like the little soldier line, just bend down for the popcorn and at that time close your ears and then come back up. My mother-in-law is a teacher and my wife had told me that in KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI how can you show Anupam Kher like that. So I said at that point we'll reach for the popcorn to stay distracted. I can't make everyone happy. I'd love to, but I can't.”
When you have to cater to a large Indian audience, we know it isn't possible to please everyone. So do the makers have a set target audience in mind? Well, we'll have to wait and watch for that. Maybe we've got a cue when Nikhil said he wants to connect with the people for whom the film is made!
